Henry Leach

Henry Leach (18. listopadu 1923 – 26. dubna 2011) byl British První námořní lord v letech 1979 až 1982, nástupce Terence Lewin a předchůdce John Fieldhouse.

Biography

Henry Leach se narodil v Newton Abbot, Devon, England v roce 1923, třetí syn John Leach, který byl zabit během World War II. The younger Leach also served in the Royal Navy during the war, ending the war as a lieutenant and navigating officer. He also served on HMS Newcastle during the Korean War and Malayan Emergency, and he was promoted to Commander in 1955 and given command of HMS Dunkirk in the Mediterranean in 1959. In 1971, he was promotion to Rear Admiral, to Vice Admiral in 1974, to full Admiral in 1977, and to First Sea Lord in 1979. Přesvědčil Margaret Thatcher aby mu bylo umožněno vyslat operační svaz na uvolnění Falklandské ostrovy během Válka o Falklandy, a v prosinci 1982 odešel do důchodu s hodností admirála flotily.
