Elizabeth Willing Powel

Elizabeth Willing Powel (21. února 1743 – 17. ledna 1830) was an American socialite from Philadelphia.

Biography

Elizabeth Willing was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1743, the daughter of Charles Willing, the sister of Thomas Willing, Mary Willing Byrd, and James Willing, and the aunt of Ann Willing Bingham. She was the daughter, sister, and wife of mayors of Philadelphia after marrying Samuel Powel, and she hosted political meetings at her salon in Philadelphia and opened her home to the delegates of the First Continental Congress.
