Book of Common Prayer

The Book of Common Prayer is an Anglican prayer book which was first published in 1549 during the reign of King Edward VI of England. It was the first book to contain the forms of service for daily and Sunday worship in English in a single volume; it includes the morning and evening prayers, the Litany, the Holy Communion, baptism, confirmation, marriage, the anointing of the sick, a funeral service, Sunday service reading, and Bible reading and canticles meant for daily prayers. Byla zakázána královnou Marie I. Anglická od 1553 do 1558 a Parliamentarians během Anglická občanská válka, obnovena až v roce 1662.
