Elbert Nostrand Carvel

Elbert Nostrand Carvel (9. února 1910 – 6. února 2005) was the Democratic Governor of Delaware from 18 January 1949 to 20 January 1953 (succeeding Walter W. Bacon and preceding J. Caleb Boggs) and from 17 January 1961 to 19 January 1965 (succeeding David P. Buckson a předcházející Charles L. Terry Jr.).

Životopis

Elbert Nostrand Carvel se narodil v Shelter Island, New York v roce 1910 a přestěhoval se do Laurel, Delaware v roce 1936. Řídil společnost na výrobu hnojiv, než sloužil jako viceguvernér v letech 1945 až 1949 a jako guvernér v letech 1949 až 1953 a 1961 až 1965, a byl proti trestu smrti a podporoval Black občanská práva. Zemřel v roce 2005.
