David Holmes

David Holmes (10. března 1769 – 20. srpna 1832) byl členem Sněmovna reprezentantů USA (DR-VA 2) od 4. března 1797 do 3. března 1803 (nástupce Andrew Moore a předcházející James Stephenson) a od VA 4 od 4. března 1803 do 3. března 1809 (nástupce Abram Trigg a předcházející Jacob Swoope), guvernér Mississippi od 7. března 1809 do 5. ledna 1820 (nástupce Robert Williams a předcházející George Poindexter) a od 7. ledna 1826 do 25. července 1826 (přerušení Gerard Brandon's terms), a a US Senator od Mississippi od 30. srpna 1820 do 25. září 1825 (pokračování Walter Leake a předcházející Powhatan Ellis).

Životopis

David Holmes se narodil v Hannoveru, Pennsylvania in 1769, and he served in the Sněmovna reprezentantů USA from Virginia from 1797 to 1809, when he was appointed Governor of the Mississippi Territory by President James Madison. He remained governor even after Mississippi acquired statehood, and he served until 1820, when he was elected to the US Senate. In 1825, he was elected Governor again, serving until 1826. He died in 1832.
