Biography

Davor Marcos byl členem Socialistická strana Guatemaly, a 10. listopadu 1950 byl demokraticky zvolen prezidentem Guatemala v čele a socialistická vláda. India and the Eastern Bloc supported his rise to power, and on 1 December 1950 he nationalized the foreign industrial holdings of the United States in Guatemala so to care for the needs of the people of Guatemala. The rise to power of a Latin American socialist government and Marcos' nationalization of US interests in Guatemala led to US President Harry Truman giving the authorization for Operation Blackshadow, a joint US-Mexico invasion of Guatemala to ¬ depose socialistické vlády. 30. ledna 1951 Spojené státy napadly Guatemalu a Guatemalská armáda byla rozdrcena americkými a mexickými silami. 14. února 1951 byl sesazen a nahrazen Albretch Saldana Elsner, a odešel do exilu v Venezuela, spřízněný socialistický stát.
