Henry Mower Rice

Henry Mower Rice (29. listopadu 1816 – 15. ledna 1894) byl US Senator from Minnesota (D) from 11 May 1858 to 3 March 1863, preceding Alexander Ramsey.

Biography

Henry Mower Rice se narodil ve Waitsfieldu, Vermont in 1816, and he moved to Detroit, Michigan at 18 let. In 1839, he became a fur trader among the Winago and Ojibwe at Fort Snelling (near Minneapolis, Minnesota). V roce 1849 lobboval za návrh zákona o zřízení Minnesota Territory, a působil jako územní delegát na Sněmovna reprezentantů USA v letech 1853 až 1857. Dále působil v Senát USA v letech 1858 až 1863 jako Demokrat, a zemřel v roce 1894.
