Arevaci

The Arevaci were a Celtic people who resided in northern Hispania and most of Celtiberia from the 4 to 2. century BC. They were an offshot of the Vaccaei, and their name means "Eastern Vaccaei". During the Punské války, Arevaci žoldnéři bojovali za obě Římská republika and Carthage, and the first Roman incursion into the Arevaci heartland occurred in 195 BC. Po pádu Numantie v roce 133 př. n. l. Římané rozpustili Celtiberskou konfederaci a Řím v roce 92 př. n. l. nemilosrdně rozdrtil Arevaci a zničil jejich nové hlavní město Termantii. Arevaci po desetiletí odolávali římské asimilaci, ale v roce 29 př. n. l. přispěli Římanům pomocnými jezdeckými sbory.
