Eli Power

Eli Power (2. dubna 1789 – 10. června 1821) byl správcem Jonas Gibson's Eastville plantation in North Carolina a první obětí Ammiras Cromey's slave uprising.

Eli Power se narodil 2. dubna 1789 v Eastville, North Carolina, United States, a byl veteránem War of 1812, viděl akce s plukem domobrany v Severní Karolíně ve válce proti Creeks. Po válce byl Power najat jako dozorce plantáží Jonas Gibson, and he beat up many of the slaves, forcing them to do hard work for his master. Power was a brutal man, and on 9 June 1821 he killed a slave by beating him death. In response, Ammiras Cromey and a few other slaves killed Power with a pickaxe on the night of 10 June, beginning the Cromey slave uprising.
