Cornelius Bengett
Cornelius Bengett (1809-1884) was an American farmer from Clinton, Dutchess County, New York. The son of wheat farmer Theophilus Bengett, Cornelius involved himself in the Anti-Rent War as a "Calico Indian" who terrorized supporters of Upstate New York's feudal lords in the leadup to the passage of the 1846 state constitution (which abolished feudal land tenures and prohibited leases that lasted longer than 12 years). Bengett zůstal Antirent Party stoupencem do 50. let 19. století, kdy vstoupil do rodící se Republikánská strana. Zemřel v roce 1884 a zanechal po sobě šest synů, včetně Stephen Bengett.
