Great Sound

The Great Sound is a large ocean inlet in Bermudy, surrounded on three sides by islands. During the 19th century, the Royal Navy acquired several small islands in the sound and used them as prisoner-of-war camps, including during the Second Boer War. During World War II, the US Navy, Royal Navy, and Royal Air Force used the islands as bases.
