Chinatown

Chinatown is a neighborhood in Center City, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After the completion of First Transcontinental Railroad in 1869, Chinese laborers in the American West experienced violence from white laborers and relocated to eastern cities like Philadelphia. Young, male Chinese workers founded Chinatown in the 1880s, but they found themselves excluded from the industrial workers and opened laundries and restaurants. During the 1960, large numbers of families started moving to Chinatown.
